About Me

I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, on the southernmost tip of the continent where the two oceans meet. A country of braaivleis, sunny skies and Chevrolet, as the popular jingle went.

I was raised in a conservative Muslim household, with my adored brothers and sisters, during the Apartheid era. My passion for reading, starting at 5 years old, provided a much needed outlet for my troubled feelings of stiflement (apparently that is not word - I invoke creative license.) and it’s through beloved books that my yearning for faraway places and the intrigue of human nature was nourished.

I worked in Corporate for 15 years, having climbed the ranks to Administration Manager of a region. I loved my job and fully believed, to quote Richard Branson, “Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients.” So my first priority was always the well-being of my staff.

I have lived in Israel, France, Thailand, California, Switzerland and now Germany - all along the way amassing a group of wonderful friends who sustain my heart. I return home to my beloved Cape Town once or twice a year to relish the African sunshine and be welcomed back into the warm, ample bosom of my family. I have two Enfant Terrible and am married to a splendidly sweet man for nigh on 20 years. I tell him each day how lucky he is to have me. This is the key, ladies ;).
